We talk about diversity and the representation of staff members and students.
We talk about diversity and representation in knowledge/ resources/ references.
However, exclusionary practices are still instilled within our institution. For example; the existing exclusion in the recruitment process for staff, students, etc.
As a cohort of the Teaching within programme, I was able to experience teaching/ student support at CSM foundation. While nervous with so many things to consider, I reflected back on my own student days in a BA course. How frightening it was to suddenly live away from my family and how alienated it felt in the classroom. Before starting my placement, I wanted to prepare myself – considering how can I become a ‘teacher’ who can create a space for students to feel that they belong there.

Consider students with different backgrounds come with how they used to be taught as well. How can I help with unlearning some of this process?
Who is missing?
Why are they missing?
What is it that might engage them (students) further?
How does the curriculum fit for them?
